    Construction Update
    Construction Update:
In April we are expecting to begin welcoming back non-regular volunteers to our jobsites, and increase the allowable number of volunteers to 10 volunteers per house.
**We do recommend that you carefully consider whether you want to volunteer if you have not yet been vaccinated, or you have been vaccinated within the past three weeks and have not yet reached full immunity.**
If you are planning to volunteer, please be considerate of others and continue to follow the CDC recommendations to bring and wear a mask and use hand sanitizer. Thank you for your patience, flexibility, and for being open to change.
In April we are finishing lot 6/439 McHenry Avenue in Crystal Lake and 19 Independence in Batavia. Please remember to dress for the weather! We recommend dressing in layers and being prepared to work inside or outside.

    • 20 Independence, Batavia (Lot 2) – Trim, appliances, landscaping, hardware, final cleaning
    • 439 McHenry, Crystal Lake (Lot 6) – Weather permitting –driveway, landscaping, appliances, final cleaning
    • 431 McHenry, Crystal Lake (Lot 5) – Paint, flooring, cabinets, trim

    April is National Volunteer Month
What originally started as just a week long celebration has turned into a month long celebration of accomplishments and memories. National Volunteer Month is an opportunity to recognize the impact of volunteer service and the power of volunteers to help push a mission forward.
Volunteering comes in many different shapes and sizes. There are so many worthwhile causes that depend on the steady stream of volunteers to make things happen. The volunteers that we have here at Habitat for Humanity of Northern Fox Valley are one in a million. During one of the hardest years we have all faced, so many of our dedicated volunteers remained committed to the mission of Habitat for Humanity of Northern Fox Valley. Our volunteers are more than just volunteers, they have become advocates of Habitat for Humanity of Northern Fox Valley.
When asked why they volunteer with us, the answer is simple. Because the homeowners that are purchasing a Habitat home deserve to have the best. Those families have made sacrifices all their life, and the one thing they won't have to worry about in the future is their home.
    • Since the beginning of COVID we have sold 9 Habitat for Humanity of Northern Fox Valley homes.
    • We have completed 46 Home Preservation Projects since March 2020
Each and every volunteer matters, whether it is one day spent on a build site or weekly builds with us. Please know how incredibly special you all are to us!
    Women Build 2021 Wrap-Up
Women Build is a call to action for women looking to better their community and spread awareness of the challenges for families who can’t afford decent housing. It empowers women volunteers to participate with a hands on experience constructing a home for a local family. Due to COVID-19 this year's Habitat for Humanity of Northern Fox Valley Women Build was a little different, however still just as impactful.
This year we had over 60 Women Build participants choose to either complete a DIY Welcome Sign/Planter Box or beautiful DIY outdoor side table. Through the efforts of these women we were able to generate over $25,000 for Habitat for Humanity of Northern Fox Valley.
Since 1991, women from all walks of life have come together to participate in Women Build events at Habitat for Humanity affiliate locations throughout the U.S. The work that is being done right here at Habitat for Humanity of Northern Fox Valley is vital, with the impact felt for generations.
For information about how you can be involved in our 2022 Women Build event please reach out to Kim McIver, Development Manager at 847-836-1432 or through email.
