  • Case Manager

    PADS of Elgin is committed to providing safe shelter, support services, and compassionate advocacy to the homeless men, women and children of Dundee, Elgin, and Hanover Townships. Our goal is to break the cycle of homelessness by addressing the comprehensive needs of the local homeless population. PADS provides guests with a safe place to sleep, showers, laundry facilities, nutritious meals/snacks and case management to help guide them towards a path to self-sufficiency.     ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

    PADS of Elgin is seeking a Case Manager flexible schedule – Monday through Saturday 12pm to 8pm

    Provide Client-Centered, equitable and timely assistance

    Conducting intakes and background checks for new shelter guests

    Implementing appropriate action plans so that guests can become independent and find employment and permanent housing

    Advocate on behalf of clients as they search for housing

    Assist clients with move out and coordinate move out plan

    Help build life skills with clients

    Conducting weekly/monthly follow-up meetings to ensure compliance with action plans

    Making referrals as needed to other local social services organizations for assistance with client needs

    Provide oversight and training to all interns and assist in supervising shelter volunteers

    Attend meetings with other local service providers

    Assist clients with daily needs such as transportation assistance, doctors appointments,

    Relevant college coursework in Human Services or Social Work required

    Previous experience with Service Point (HMIS) is also preferred

    Ability to assess emergency situations and respond effectively.

    Ability to work with individuals who are experiencing homelessness.

    Ability to effectively use conflict resolution and de-escalation techniques.

    Ability to communicate well both orally and in written form and follow detailed instructions.

    Ability to accurately record information for required guest and staff documentation.

    Ability to apply policies fairly and consistently.

    Must be a team player and be able to treat all guests with dignity and respect.

    A bilingual candidate is preferred

    Pay: $19 hourly
