    Development Manager

    PADS of Elgin is committed to providing safe shelter, support services, and compassionate advocacy to the homeless men, women and children of Dundee, Elgin, and Hanover Townships. Our goal is to break the cycle of homelessness by addressing the comprehensive needs of the local homeless population. PADS provides guests with a safe place to sleep, showers, laundry facilities, nutritious meals/snacks, and case management to help guide them towards a path to self-sufficiency.     Position Summary

    This position is responsible for fundraising, events management, public relations and locating new sources of revenue through donations and corporate sponsorships. The Development Manager is responsible for building and maintaining a portfolio of institutional giving and stewarding our current community of loyal donors. This position will also work closely with the Grants Manager and Executive Director to secure additional sources of funding.
    Position Type: Full-Time, Exempt
    Reports To: Executive Director
    Hours: 40 hours
    Salary: $45,000 -$55,000/year depending on experience

    Duties and Responsibilities

    • Supervise and coordinate all fundraising events
    • Work directly with the Board of Directors to delegate fundraising and event tasks
    • Locate and obtain corporate sponsorships for fundraising events
    • Write fundraising letters and appeals; oversee mailings; maintain regular correspondence with foundations and donors and assist in building and maintaining those relationships
    • Manage email and social media marketing
    • Research and document relevant community expos/events and make recommendations for participation
    • Evaluate effective marketing opportunities for PADS and provide oversight of all creative copy and design

    Public Relations
    • Encourage members of our community to get involved by volunteering or making donations
    • Attend mixers and other public events
    • Execute all press releases as needed

    • Be an advocate for PADS of Elgin; write and communicate knowledgeably and enthusiastically about the PADS mission, programs, initiatives and be able to articulate how our organization makes a difference in our community
    • Assistance around the shelter as needed • All other duties as assigned by the Executive Director

    Job Requirements

    • Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field required
    • 2-3 years of fundraising experience working in a non-profit or similar setting
    • Excellent written communication skills
    • Strong interpersonal communication skills
    • Ability to speak publicly when required for events and public relations.
    • Must be computer literate - experience with CRM databases and Constant Contact preferred
    • Highly organized and self-motivated; works well under pressure and is able to handle several projects at one time
    • Able to use good judgment and identify changing program needs
    • Interest and enthusiasm in fundraising and working with people
    • Must be available to work some weekend and evenings as required
